Waymo Expands Robotaxi Fleet to Denver and Seattle with Zeekr Vans

Waymo Expands Robotaxi Fleet

Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle company, is accelerating its U.S. expansion by bringing its self-driving fleet to Denver and Seattle. Starting this week, the company will deploy both the Jaguar I-Pace SUV and the Zeekr-made van, initially with human drivers before activating its autonomous technology.

The move marks a significant milestone as Waymo tests its vehicles in extreme-weather conditions. Unlike Phoenix or Los Angeles, Denver and Seattle bring challenges like snow, rain, and strong winds — critical for fine-tuning the company’s autonomous driving systems.

Waymo plans to launch commercial robotaxi trips in Denver in 2025, while Seattle will follow “as soon as permitted.” This expansion reflects Waymo’s growing footprint, with over 2,000 robotaxis already operating across the U.S., including:

  • 800 in San Francisco Bay Area

  • 500 in Los Angeles

  • 400 in Phoenix

  • 100 in Austin

  • Dozens in Atlanta

Looking ahead, Waymo is preparing to roll out services in Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C., along with testing permits recently approved in New York City. The company has also teased road trips in cities like Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and San Diego.

With its fleet scaling rapidly and its presence in more diverse environments, Waymo is positioning itself as a leader in the future of autonomous mobility and urban transportation.
