Google Expands AI App Builder Opal

Google is taking a big step in democratizing AI-driven creativity with the global expansion of its innovative AI vibe-coding app, Opal. Originally launched in the U.S. in July, Opal is now available in 15 more countries, including India, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Canada, and Argentina.

The app allows users to create mini web applications simply by typing text prompts — no coding experience required. What began as a small experimental project in Google Labs has quickly grown into a hub of creativity and productivity.

“We didn’t expect the surge of sophisticated, practical, and highly creative Opal apps we got instead,” said Megan Li, Senior Product Manager at Google Labs. “It became clear we needed to get Opal into more hands globally.”

How Google Opal Works

With Opal, anyone can build an app by describing their idea in plain language. Google’s advanced AI then generates the app automatically. Users can explore a visual editor, customize features, and even add new components through simple drag-and-drop tools all without writing a single line of code. Once done, apps can be published and shared online.

What’s New in the Global Release

Alongside its expansion, Google rolled out several key upgrades to enhance performance and user experience:

  • Enhanced Debugging: Step-by-step visual testing for smoother app refinement.

  • Parallel Processing: Faster workflow execution by running multiple steps simultaneously.

  • Speed Boost: App generation time reduced from five seconds to almost instant.

Fueling the No-Code Revolution

With Opal, Google is joining the growing AI-powered no-code movement, alongside platforms like Figma, Canva, and Replit. The expansion highlights Google’s commitment to empowering creators worldwide to bring their ideas to life effortlessly.

As Opal continues to evolve, it’s clear that Google’s vision is to make app creation as simple as describing an idea — and now, millions more people across the globe can be part of that transformation.
